Ukraine: Federal Council approves additional Swiss private-sector projects

Berne, 02.10.2026 — On 2 October, the Federal Council decided to fund eight projects by Swiss companies to support reconstruction in Ukraine. The projects were selected through a competitive selection process.

Under the Ukraine country programme, Switzerland is already funding Swiss-company projects aimed at improving the resilience of this war-torn country. On 2 October, the Federal Council approved a further eight projects in the sectors of energy, public transport and water, with funding totalling CHF 135 million.

The aim of the projects is to provide Ukraine with Swiss products and expertise to address its urgent needs. These projects should also maintain and create jobs as well as improve local skills through targeted training and Swiss expertise. At the same time, the projects enable Swiss companies to reinforce their existing operations and partnerships in Ukraine.

The projects were chosen through a competitive selection process: Swiss companies with branches in Ukraine were invited to submit project proposals with budgets ranging between CHF 3 and 30 million. Each project proposal is intended to respond to an acute support need in Ukraine and is to be implemented by the companies on the ground. The various project proposals were assessed according to various criteria decided by the Ukrainian and Swiss sides in advance (e.g. relevance, development impact, technical feasibility, risk, efficient use of funds and ‘Swissness’). For selected projects, the companies must finance at least 10 per cent of the project costs themselves. The final selection was made in collaboration with the government of Ukraine, in line with the country’s needs.

A total of eight projects were selected (see Annex).
