State Secretary for Security Policy hosts Moldovan counterpart for security policy dialogue

Bern, 09.07.2026 — Markus Mäder, State Secretary for Security Policy, will host Moldovan State Secretary Ghenadie Cojocaru on 9 July 2026 for the second security policy dialogue between the two defence ministries. The talks will focus on the deteriorated security situation in Europe, hybrid threats as well as on multilateral and bilateral cooperation.

The second security policy dialogue with Moldova will be led by Markus Mäder, State Secretary for Security Policy, and Ghenadie Cojocaru, State Secretary at the Moldovan Ministry of Defence. The talks in Bern follow on from the first dialogue held in Chisinau in July 2025 and are intended to facilitate an exchange on a wide range of security policy issues.

The talks will focus on the deteriorating security situation in Europe and possible developments, hybrid threats, multilateral cooperation between the two countries – particularly with the EU and NATO – and opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Like Switzerland, Moldova participates in NATO’s Partnership for Peace.

Following the talks, State Secretary Mäder and State Secretary Cojocaru will visit the Waldbrand Fortress in the canton of Bern, which dates from the Second World War. The visit offers an opportunity to explore the history and development of Swiss security policy over recent decades.
